Pawling Rotary will hold its 10th annual golf outing on Monday, May 16th, when Pawling’s Lori and Bill Johnson will be honored for their leadership and service to the Pawling community.

Both raised in Pawling by families that believed in giving back to the community and helping others, the Johnsons have worked tirelessly for the community they love. In 2000, Bill was urged to run for the Town Board, was successful in doing so and went on to be elected to five terms serving twenty years, many of them as Deputy Supervisor. Bill retired from the town board this past December.

Lori’s dad was active in the Pawling Lion’s Club. When Lori was a youngster, she was often by her dad’s side, volunteering with him. More recently, however, she has served as the Treasurer for Pawling Public Radio and Past President of the Pawling Rotary Club from 2019-21. She also served on the board of the Smith Johnson Scout cabin for two years. Currently, Lori is the Treasurer for Patterson Community Church, and can always be found working hard for local causes.

Lori and Bill are both graduates of Pawling public schools. Bill attended Pennsylvania State University and Lori is a graduate of Post College in Waterbury, Connecticut. Bill has over 45 years in the automobile industry and Lori has shared her expertise in the insurance field with the community for more than thirty-five years. They have been married since 1984 and have two sons and an adorable granddaughter.

This Pawling Rotary golf outing, which takes place annually at the Quaker Hill Country Club, will get underway with registration and lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Shotgun start time will be at 1:00 p.m. Golfing will be a scramble format and the fee per golfer includes the day on the links with golf cart, lunch, and dinner. Dinner without golf is also available.

Proceeds from this event will fund the many educational programs supported by Rotary that benefit Pawling’s youth, including the Interact Club of Pawling, R.Y.L.A. Leadership Conference, Third Grade Dictionaries to public and private school students, The Smith-Johnson Scout Cabin, Rotary’s International Student Exchange Program, and The Roger Smith-Pawling Rotary College Scholarship Program.

Information regarding this event is available on the Pawling Rotary web site at pawlingrotary.org, or by contacting John Ammaturo, event co- chair, at 845-855- 3010.
