Gun arrest in Rhinebeck

Hyde Park, New York – On April 20, 2022, the New York State Police from the Rhinebeck barracks arrested Christopher Craft Sr., age 55, and Jeremy M. Craft, age 32, both of Rhinebeck, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both class A misdemeanors, and Possession of a Loaded Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, an unclassified misdemeanor.  Christopher Craft was additionally arrested for Obstruction of Governmental Administration, a class A misdemeanor.

Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 1994 Ford van for numerous violations of the vehicle and traffic law on State Route 9 in the town of Hyde Park.  Investigation determined Christopher and Jeremy Craft possessed a loaded Mossberg 500A 12-gauge shotgun despite both being convicted of crimes barring them from possessing a firearm.  The vehicle in addition to containing a loaded firearm was also carrying an unrestrained child in the front seat.  During the arrest Christopher Craft refused to comply with lawful orders.

Christopher and Jeremy Craft were arraigned before the town of Hyde Park Court and released on their own recognizance to reappear on May 9, 2022.
