OFFICE OF THE DUTCHESS COUNTY COMPTROLLER HOLDS PART 1 OF 3 SEMINARS ON FINANCIAL HEALTH FOR VETERANS 

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Local veterans and community members joined Dutchess County Comptroller Robin Lois to take part in the first of three seminars dedicated to providing practical information and assistance to veterans and their families regarding financial wellness. The Comptroller was joined by Leona O’Connell of Hudson River HousingTommy Zurhellen of VetZeroAdam Roche of Dutchess County Veterans Services, and Joe Galante from the Office of the New York State Comptroller.

 

The event was held at VFW Post 170 in Poughkeepsie, with dinner provided by Emiliano’s of Poughkeepsie. The presentation covered personal financestax preparationcredit scores, and financial COVID-19 mitigation measures. Comptroller Lois emphasized the importance of “maintaining our financial health in order to support our physical wellbeing,” and asked for input from attending veterans as to what they would like to know for future seminars. The Comptroller’s Office is considering covering topics such as loansfraud prevention, or medical billing.

 

The next two seminars in the series are currently in development and will be announced in the coming weeks.
