Threats of violence have been made at schools

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is aware of posts trending on the media platform TikTok where threats of violence have been made at schools across the country today, Friday December 17th. This has been a general post and not directed at a specific school or location. The Sheriff’s Office has been communicating with the school districts, other police agencies and Dutchess County Government to address these safety concerns.
Acting Sheriff Kirk A. Imperati said, “In addition to our school resource officers who are in numerous Dutchess County schools daily, I have directed all of our road patrol Deputies as well as Deputies and Detectives from other Bureaus within the Sheriff’s Office to provide a highly visible law enforcement presence throughout our schools today. We are working in conjunction with the New York State Police and City, Town and Village Police Departments in Dutchess County to provide increased safety and security in our schools.”
