Obituary, Walter Anthony Cordani

Walter Anthony Cordani, 94, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home in Pawling.

A 55-year resident of Pawling, he was born in NYC on June 7, 1926, son of Alfredo and Anna (Colomba) Cordani, and husband of Joan Cordani, who together just celebrated their 59th anniversary on April 21st.

Before retiring, Walter worked at a family vending machine business collecting money.

Walter loved music.  He played the accordian since childhood, and was in a band, playing at events as an adult.   Walter was an avid NY Yankees fan.  He ran the United Methodist Thrift Shop for 15 years.  He loved the simple pleasure of sitting in the sun with his 11 “grand”dogs, and “puppy-sat” for them all the time.  He loved to play cards, go to the casino, and scratch offs, always saying if he won, everyone won!  But above all, he loved his family.

He was a kind, giving man, who was loved by everyone who met him.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; his two daughters, Sabrina Cordani-Brown and Nia Cordani; sons-in-law Jimmy Brown and Dennis Brehm; and his “grand”dogs: Peanut Butter, Buster, Peanut, Mojo, Spot, Bella, Zeke, Louie, Hetty, Gypsy, and Niblet.

Family and friends may pay their respects Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling; masks are required and social distancing observed.  A service will be held at 6:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Walter may be made to the Putnam Humane Society, PO Box 297, Carmel, NY 10512 or puthumane.org.
