Obituary

James F. Colgan, 72, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on May 7, 2021 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mr. Colgan worked at Kimberly Clark in New Milford, CT, for 31 years retiring in 2004.

Born on September 16, 1948 in Plattsburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Fay and Margaret (Lockerby) Colgan. On September 1, 1973 in Ellenburg Depot he married Bonnie Moore who survives at home.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Colgan is survived by a son, Shane Colgan and his wife, Camille, of Saranac Lake, NY and a daughter, Holly Whaley and her companion, Gary Butts, of Dover Plains. He is also survived by a brother, Brent Colgan and his wife, Frances, of Gastonia, NC; a brother-in-law, Stephen Moore and his companion Missy Law, of New Milford, CT and three grandchildren, Layne and Landon Colgan and Reagan Whaley. Besides his parents, Mr. Colgan was predeceased by a sister, Melody Jean Colgan and a granddaughter, Karina James Colgan.

Mr. Colgan was an avid NY Yankees, NY Rangers and NASCAR fan. The family would like to thank Dr. David Kurish for his excellent care and compassion.

Calling hours will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Thom Fiet officiating. Burial will follow at South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale, NY.
