Dutchess County Winter Storm Update Monday February 1st – 2:30pm Poughkeepsie… A Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service remains in effect through Tuesday, February 2nd for Dutchess County and surrounding communities. Snowfall has been light in many areas of Dutchess County, however an increased rate of snowfall of 2 to 3 inches per hour is expected late this afternoon and early evening, with potential wind gusts up to 40MPH. As storm conditions worsen, road conditions will be hazardous and residents are strongly advised against travel. Dutchess County Department of Public Works’ (DPW) road crews have been efficient in keeping up with snowfall on county roadways, having already completed two runs of plowing. A third round of plowing is underway this afternoon and the DPW workforce will continue clearing roadways through the night. Again, individuals are advised to remain off the roads as it will become much more difficult for road crews to keep up with the increased rate of snowfall. Other updates:
Residents can stay up-to-date on the County’s storm response online at dutchessny.gov or on the County’s social media pages on Facebook or Twitter.
