PRESS RELEASE

On November 4, 2020 State Police arrested Veronica Reyes, age 29 of Poughkeepsie for Identity Theft 2nd degree and Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, both felonies.

State Police were contacted by New Yok State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for a possible license forgery. A local dealership in Ulster County submitted paperwork to DMV to transfer a title and register a vehicle. The buyer, Reyes, possessed  New York State Driver’s License. Reyes was contacted by DMV about a possible error with the paperwork. When she arrived at the DMV she presented the forged NYS driver license as identification. The license had her image but the client ID number was from another operator’s license. She was then taken into custody by New York State Bureau of Criminal of Investigation (BCI). Reyes was virtually arraigned by City of Kingston Justice Kirschner and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to return to court on November, 10, 2020 at 9:45 a.m.
