Mary T. O’Connell, of Patterson, NY, died at her home on November 1, 2020. She was 78 years old.
Born on April 16, 1942 in Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Edmond and Katherine (Sullivan) Barry. Mary was graduated from St. Aquinas High School in the Bronx.
On April 28, 1962 Mary married the love of her life Patrick L. O’Connell at St. Lukes R. C. Church in the Bronx. Patrick died on July 7, 2003.
Mary was a Sales Representative with Schech Pools in Brewster, NY for several years. A 47-year resident of Patterson, Mary had lived in the Bronx prior.
Mary was past president of the Patterson Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary as well as an EMT for the Patterson Fire Department Ambulance Corps. She was a longtime election day poll volunteer and a volunteer food gatherer for the Patterson Food Pantry. Mary was a loving wife, proud and loving mother and cherished grandmother.
Mary is survived by her five sons, Patrick J. O’Connell and his fiancée Linda Hogan of Wingdale, NY, Michael J. O’Connell of North Carolina, Edward J. O’Connell of Patterson, NY, Thomas Gatto of Lake Carmel, NY and Kevin J. O’Connell and his wife Andera of Pawling, NY; three grandsons, Killian, Shane and Aidan and a former daughter-in-Law Patricia Scott-Rich. Mary was pre-deceased by two brothers, Joseph and William Barry.
