Troop K conducts underage drinking initiative in Dutchess County

Dutchess County, New York – On August 20, 2020, the New York State Police conducted an underage drinking enforcement operation in Dutchess County. Fifteen stores were checked by utilizing an underage volunteer to purchase alcohol under the observation of plainclothes investigators and supported by uniformed troopers.  Thirteen store clerks refused to complete the sale of alcohol to the volunteer. Two clerks sold an alcoholic beverage to the volunteer and were arrested.

Khaliluddin Khan, age 60, of Dover Plains, New York, an employee of Sunoco Gas Station, 3195 State Route 22, Dover Plains, NY.  Khan was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the town of Dover Court on September 17, 2020 at 6:00 PM.

Wendy Huzzy, age 45, of Millbrook, New York, an employee of Berkshire Wine and Liquor, 3238 State Route 22, Dover Plains, NY.  Huzzy was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Dover Court on September 14, 2020 at 4:00 PM.

Both subjects were charged with Prohibited Sale of Alcohol to a minor, a Class A Misdemeanor. In addition, their employers face possible civil penalties imposed by the State Liquor Authority.

The New York State Police routinely conducts underage drinking enforcement operations throughout the state in an effort to curb alcohol abuse and DWI incidents involving teenagers.
