Storm Update

Tuesday, August 4th  9:00pm

Poughkeepsie… Tropical Storm Isaias’s wind and rain has caused widespread power outages and roadway issues throughout Dutchess County.

As of 9pm, the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response provided the following update:

  • Central Hudson is currently reporting 58,653 outages and NYSEG is reporting 13,585 outages across Dutchess County.  Full restoration is expected to take multiple days as utility crews respond to outages.
  • Dutchess County 911 Center reported more 700 calls for 593 incidents between 7am and 5pm relating to today’s storm, primarily reports of downed trees and power lines. Residents are reminded that calls to report outages (include cable, internet and power) should be directed to their local utility service provider.  Reports of downed wires, particularly live and sparking, should be reported to 911 as these are life-safety emergencies.
  • Dutchess County Public Works highway crews have been addressing roadway issues and will continue to do so throughout the evening.   Crews are coordinating with Central Hudson and NYSEG to clear wires to reopen roadways as quickly as possible.
  • County Executive Molinaro will host a Municipal Conference Call with the Department of Emergency Response for all local municipal Mayors & Supervisors tomorrow to Chief Elected Officials to provide additional information and assist with overall coordination of storm recovery efforts as needed.
