State Police investigate a Fatal accident on I-87 in the village of Sloatsburg, Rockland County.

PRESS RELEASE

Sloatsburg, NY – On June 6, 2020, at approximately 11:18 p.m., State Police were dispatched to investigate a serious injury accident which involved a tractor trailer striking a pedestrian on I-87 in the village of Sloatsburg.

 

Investigation at the scene revealed that Robert H. Harrington, 45, of Waltham, MA, was operating his 2019 Jeep southbound in the area of mile marker 33.1, when he struck the guardrail.  Harrington became ejected into the roadway and was subsequently struck by a 2019 Freightliner tractor trailer operated by Robin Carroll, 63, of Albany, NY.

 

Harrington was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Rockland County Medical Examiner.  Carroll was not injured. Traffic was diverted around the scene using the ramps through the Ramapo Service Area while the accident was reconstructed by the New York State Police Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU).  The Troop F Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) also responded to the scene to assist SP Tarrytown Troopers with the investigation.
