Obituary, Irene Benites

Irene Benites passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at the age of 91.

Irene was born in Apurimac, Peru on January 1, 1928. She came to the United States in 1977 to be with her daughter Irene and was soon joined by her sons, Manuel and Simon. She worked hard and tirelessly. Working for families who loved her like their own and eventually working at Northern Westchester Hospital where she retired. Once retired, her greatest joys involved making sure her family was well fed, watching her great-grandchildren and spending time at the senior center. She was also an avid world traveler, always curious and seeking to explore new adventures. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain and feed her family. She would spend hours in the kitchen preparing dinners from scratch, on Friday nights where she would be surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her Friday night dinners were what the family looked forward to every week.

She is survived by her daughter, Irene Moreno and her husband Alexis, and sons: Walter Sairitupa and his wife, Celia, and Manuel Sairitupa and his wife, Zahida. She is predeceased by her parents: Balvina Arbieto and Filomeno Benites; 3 siblings, Cipriano, Justina, and Crispin. She is also survived by 4 siblings, Eduvijes, Rudencindo, Jesus and Raul; 6 grandchildren: Vanessa (husband, David), Alexis Jr (wife, Evelyn), Sara (husband, David), Illapa, Inti, and Fernando; and 6 great-grandchildren: Everett, Myles, Annabella, Nathan, Rafael and Noah; along with many nieces and nephews.
