Motorcycle Crash Leaves Red Hook Teen Severely Injured

On Monday, October 14th at approximately 3:25 PM Red Hook Police responded to a 911 call reporting a motorcycle crash located on Manor Road in the Town of Red Hook. Upon arrival to the scene police located the rider, a 17-year-old female from Red Hook, semiconscious suffering from serious injuries from the crash. The female was transported to Northern Dutchess hospital by Northern Dutchess Paramedics where it was determined she suffered two broken femurs and had a serious head injury. She was then transported to Westchester Medical Center where she underwent surgery and was listed in stable but serious condition. Following a police investigation, it was determined the rider was northbound on Manor Road on a 1974 Honda motorcycle when due to unsafe speed and rider inexperience she lost control of the motorcycle causing her to strike a fire hydrant and a tree. The rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Red Hook Police were assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Red Hook Fire Company, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
