Open Auditions for OLIVER! for Ages 8-18
Spotlight Arts Inc., a youth theater company based in Brewster, is holding open auditions on October 11th & 12th for its winter mainstage production of Lion Bart’s OLIVER! Voted “Most Loved Acting Program” for two years in a row, Spotlight Arts’ nationally recognized and award-winning mainstage program is a large-scale commercial production directed by industry professionals that offers a unique and professional performance and training opportunity to students ages 8-18 with rehearsals beginning in December. The production rehearses three days per week for a short 5-week rehearsal period, followed by a full tech week and one weekend of performances January 17-19.
Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on Charles Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist. The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family. Oliver! is a musical theatre masterpiece, perfectly showcasing the talents of a large ensemble cast as they bring these classic characters and score to life.
Auditions for Spotlight Arts’ OLIVER! is open to ages 8-18 by appointment only Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th 4:00-7:00PM at the Studio Around the Corner in Brewster, NY: 67 Main Street, Suite 101, Brewster, NY 10509. This mainstage production will be headed by Spotlight Arts’ 2019-2020 mainstage team: Directed by Founder & Executive Director Stephanie Scuderi, choreographed by Eric Leiggi, music direction by Denis Michael, and assistant directed by Sarah Daleo.
