Man arrested for drug possession and an illegal handgun on the Taconic State Parkway

Milan, New York – On June 28, 2019, the New York State Police from the Rhinebeck barracks arrested Jose M. Bermudez, age 26, of Jacksonville, NC, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony, and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Honda Civic for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Milan.  An investigation found Bermudez was in illegal possession of a Beretta Pico .380 auto handgun, approximately 1.2 grams of cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

Bermudez was arraigned before the town of Milan Court and remanded by the Honorable Judge Mattson to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 secure bond.  Bermudez is next scheduled to appear before the Court on July 2, 2019, at 4:00 p.m.
