Arrest of a Poughkeepsie man subsequent to a heroin sales investigation


ARREST: Members of the ULSTER REGIONAL GANG ENFORCEMENT NARCOTICS TEAM (URGENT) report the arrest of a Poughkeepsie man subsequent to a heroin sales investigation.

Beginning in October of 2014, members of URGENT received information regarding heroin sales in the New Paltz area. An investigation was conducted, including undercover buy operations. An indictment was later issued by an Ulster County grand jury and ultimately an arrest warrant was issued by Ulster County Court.

On the morning of 04/08/15, Jeffrey L. Fryar, Jr., 23, of Poughkeepsie, surrendered to URGENT members at the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department. He is charged with two counts each of the felonies of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with intent to sell. He was held without bail in the Ulster County Jail pending arraignment in Ulster County Court at a later time.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Village of Ellenville Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
