Citizen’s Preparedness Trainings Coming to Various Locations in Dutchess County in May and June

Poughkeepsie, NY…The Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response will host several free Citizen’s Preparedness Training Program sessions in May and June throughout Dutchess County to provide participants with the tools and resources to better prepare for any type of disaster. The events are open to the public.

County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “It is all our responsibility to have a plan and be prepared to stay safe until help arrives and then to recover quickly afterwards. I encourage every family to attend one of our free Citizen’s Preparedness Training sessions to learn the importance of keeping a kit with items such as blankets, water, flashlights and batteries, and a first-aid kit on hand as well as how to plan for what to do in an emergency of any kind.”

The sessions are as follows:

  • Wednesday, May 8th at 7pm – Fishkill Town Hall, 807 Route 52, Fishkill. View the flier.
  • Thursday, May 23rd at 7pm – NorthEast-Millerton Library Annex, 28 Century Blvd., Millerton. View the flier.
  • Thursday, June 27th at 7pm – Rhinebeck Village Hall, 76 East Market St., Rhinebeck. View the flier.

At each training, participants will learn how to respond accordingly in a disaster and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. The training program is being provided by the Dutchess County Departments of Emergency Response in partnership with the local municipalities and libraries.

Each family will receive a free Citizen’s Preparedness Corp Response Starter Kit. Dutchess County’s Medical Reserve Corps and the Dutchess County Animal Response Team will be present with more information on how to become involved. For information, visit www.dutchessny.gov.
