Obituary, Charles Ira Clarkson, Jr.

Charles Ira Clarkson, Jr, 71, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at The Grand at Barnwell, Valatie, NY.

A resident of Ancram, NY, formerly of Pawling and Wingdale, he was the son of the late Charles I. Clarkson, Sr. and Dorothy (Bullied) Clarkson and was born in Danbury, CT on August 16, 1947, and lived in Pawling where he attended Pawling schools and graduated from Pawling High School in 1966. After graduation,  Charlie went into the US Army where he served from 1966-1968, being discharged with the rank of SP5.  Charlie worked on the road crew for the New York State Department of Transportation in Carmel, NY before moving out of the area in 2015.

Charlie loved being outdoors, and especially loved hunting, fishing, and camping.  He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his son, Charles I. Clarkson, III of PA, his sister Doraine Clarkson-Rideg of FL, three grandchildren, and his good friend Bruce Smith of Pine Plains, NY.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Racioppo, who passed away September 3, 2016.

Friends and family may pay their respects at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Sunday, May 5th from 7-8 PM.
