State Police investigate a fatal vehicle crash in the town of New Paltz

PRESS RELEASE

On March 30, 2019, at approximately 11:33 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a two car vehicle crash at the intersection of Henry W. Dubois Drive and North Oakwood Terrace in the town of New Paltz. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Volvo S40, being operated Abram Almahri, age 19 of New Paltz, NY was traveling westbound on Henry W. Dubois Road when he struck a 2012 Toyota Scion XD in the rear that was stopped at a stop sign. The impact caused the Toyota to spin around in the roadway and travel backwards off the north shoulder of Henry W. Dubois Road. The Volvo continued westbound crossing the roadway to the south shoulder striking a rock embankment causing the vehicle to overturn and then striking a tree. Jade N. Randazzo, age 25 of New Paltz, NY was a passenger in the Volvo and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Abram Almahri, the operator, was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY with head and arm trauma. The other passengers in the Volvo, Walter Morales-Duarte, age 22 of New Paltz was transported to Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY with internal injuries and James Davis, age 22 of Poughkeepsie, NY was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY with head trauma.

The operator of the Toyota Scion XD, Charlie Rodriguez, age 43 of Highland, NY was transported to Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. with internal injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation.
