DUTCHESS COUNTY COMPTROLLER ROBIN LOIS ISSUES AUDIT REPORT ON HUDSON VALLEY REGIONAL AIRPORT

Dutchess County Comptroller Robin Lois today issued an audit of the Hudson Valley Regional Airport, formerly known as the Dutchess County Airport, located on State Route 376 in the Town of Wappinger. The county-owned facility and its operations are overseen by the Aviation Division of the Dutchess County Department of Public Works.

“The Airport has recently made progress, going from their highest net loss over the last seventeen years in 2012, to making a slight gain from operations in 2017,” said Dutchess County Comptroller Robin Lois. “Improvements made over the last several years help to better position the Airport for success and financial sustainability in the future, which is critically important to decreasing their reliance upon taxpayer funds for operations.”

The report examines the revenues, expenses, and operations of the Hudson Valley Regional Airport, in addition to serving as a follow-up on a 2012 Audit Report from the Dutchess County Comptroller’s Office and a 2013 Management Consultant report. This marks the first review of the Airport and its operations since the County renamed and rebranded it in 2017.

“Our office also identifies areas of opportunity for the Airport to improve its operations and efficiency, specifically around tenant lease administration and compliance enforcement,” continued Comptroller Lois. “Additionally, we recommend that the Airport Advisory Committee be reinstated to ensure further accountability and focus on goals and initiatives set forth in an updated Master Plan and marketing strategy.”
