Traffic stop leads to drug charge in Chester

PRESS RELEASE

On April 3, 2015, state police stopped a 1999 Infiniti on State Route 17 in the Village of Chester for traveling 90mph in a posted 65mph zone. During an interview of the operator, Yosef J. Joselit, age 20, of Woodridge, NY, admitted to smoking marijuana and heroin prior to operating the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Joselit was arrested for Driving While Impaired by Drugs. An inventory of the vehicle produced an expandable baton, a quantity of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, psilocybin and several different prescription pills.

Joselit was processed at the SP Middletown barracks for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, seven counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Criminal Possession of Marijuana 5th, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in Non Original Container and Driving While Impaired by Drugs. Joselit was arraigned in the Village of Chester Court and remanded to Orange County Jail on $10,000.00 cash bail.
