Ticket Purchase Enhancements and Route Changes for Dutchess County Public Transit

Ticket Purchase Enhancements and Route Changes
for Dutchess County Public Transit

Public Information Meetings to Be Held March 4th and March 13th

Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Public Transit (DCPT) is making changes to ticket purchase options and route schedules in response to customer requests and recent efficiency analysis of the County’s “legacy routes” (routes in existence prior to the 2017 expansion of additional City of Poughkeepsie service). Route modifications, which will enhance service efficiency and provide more than $230,000 in taxpayer savings, will go in effect Saturday, March 30th.

DCPT has expanded fare ticket purchase options, in response to customer feedback, so riders can now utilize a credit card to purchase bus passes online. In addition to purchasing in person, by mail, or fax, customers can now easily select the type and quantity of passes needed online, submit their payment and contact information, and have the passes mailed to them. This customer-requested feature can be found on the DCPT website.

Additionally, there will be service route adjustments that will go into effect on Saturday, March 30th following the results of an extensive route efficiency analysis. Route modifications will be made on “legacy routes” (A, B, C, D, E, F, H, K) and will include elimination of select early morning and late evening trips that average less than two riders per month, creating service inefficiency. Additionally, select Sunday routes (F,H) that have been under-performing will be eliminated and Sunday Route L will be modified for efficiency. These changes should have minimal impact on bus passengers, while making service more efficient. The route modifications equate to more than $233,000 in annual taxpayer savings.

DCPT will host two public outreach meetings for riders to learn more about the changes, including alternate route options that are available for riders impacted by the service adjustments. Public notice rider alerts will be posted on buses and there will be service alerts on the Dutchess Tracker app.

The information meetings will be held:

  • March 4, 11 a.m. at Fishkill Town Hall, 807 Route 52, Fishkill
  • March 13, 6 p.m. at Washington Town Hall, 10 Reservoir Drive, Millbrook

Dutchess County Public Transit will provide free courtesy shuttle transportation to and from the meetings if attendees are unable to utilize an existing service route. Reservations are required. To make a reservation, please call (845) 473-8424.
