Obituary, James Murphy

Millbrook – James R. Murphy, 90, a resident of Millbrook and longtime resident of Hawthorne, died on November 25, 2018, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on April 24, 1928 in New Rochelle, James was the son of Roy and Florence (Loughman) Murphy. On April 30, 1955, in Immaculate Heart of Mary in Scarsdale, James married the love of his life Doris Mahoney who survives at home.

James was a manager at Pepsi Cola in Mount Vernon and the Bronx for 43 years. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Timothy Murphy and his wife Marlene of LaGrange, Brian Murphy of Millbrook, Maureen Travers and her husband Steve of West Palm Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Brian Murphy and his wife Erika, Meghan Murphy, Nicholas Nicoletti, Thomas Nicoletti; his granddaughter in law, Jennifer Murphy; his great-granddaughter Sienna Rose Murphy; his brother, Stephen Murphy of California; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Michael Murphy on November 25, 2017, his 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8pm at 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15 North Avenue, Millbrook.
