Obituary, Varna J. Tuz

Varna J. Tuz, 82, a life-long Pawling, NY resident passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 after a short illness.
Born October 8, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was one of eight children born to the late Christian and Catherine (Judge) Nielsen.  Varna attended and graduated from Pawling Schools.  She married Edward Tuz at St. John’s Church on November 23, 1957.
Varna was a dedicated member of St. John’s Church in Pawling, and a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters.
She loved attending exercise classes, visiting with friends, and baking for any cause.
In addition to her parents, Varna is predeceased by her husband, Edward, four brothers, three sisters, and her son, Keith.
She leaves behind her daughter, JoAnn Phillips, son-in-law James, and daughter-in-law Laura Tuz (Wagner) all of Pawling: five grandchildren, Lindsay, Ryan, Conor, Dylan, and Cassidy; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Sunday, November 4th 2-4 and 6-8 PM.  The Catholic Daughters will conduct a service at 2 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
