October 13th Rotary Fall Festival Has

Something for Everyone!

On Saturday, October 13th, The Pawling Rotary Club will hold its Fabulous Fall Festival at the Lathrop Center at Lakeside Park, designed to entertain and delight every member of the community.  For foodies and craft lovers, the auditorium in the Lathrop Center will present an array of vendors for Pawling’s discerning shoppers.

The children’s Fabulous Festival area will present endless games, prizes and fun.  Special offerings will include pony and hay rides, courtesy of  Clover Brook Farm; a big red firetruck for exploring, courtesy of Pawling’s Volunteer Fire Department; a sensational hay maze, courtesy of Eastern Hay and the Pawling Boy Scouts; face painting and other colorful and glittery fun in the beauty tent; a special children’s book reading and signing by Carol Paterno and  Doris Tomaselli of Daffodil Press; pumpkin painting with Karen Hess (pumpkins courtesy of Dykman’s farm); a slew of activities for the five-and-under set; a Ninja Challenge, courtesy of Pawling Karate; a special activity for children with Miss Neena from the Pawling Library;  Skittles, the adorable mini pony from Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue; and a couple of pups in training from Blue Path Service Dogs that will be charming one and all.

There will also be a Bar-B-Que for those who come hungry and plan to stay awhile.  Among the food offerings will be mulled cider, apple cider doughnuts, ice cream, delicious desserts made available through several specialty vendors, and typical BBQ fare.

All of this will have been made possible through the tremendous support given to the Pawling Rotary Club by Pawling’s merchants, organizations and volunteers, who have generously responded to Pawling Rotary’s desire to offer free admission to this event so that all will be able to attend. Sponsors who have  contributed to this Rotary community event include Golden Leaf sponsors Sweet Peet, Pawling Engineered Products, and Sheriff Butch Anderson; Harvest Time sponsors Ingersoll Auto of Pawling, Dutchess Auto Body, Fairway Accounting, Emery & Webb Insurance, Fountain Plumbing, Edison Cleaners, Aneu Salon, Schmitt Excavating, Patterson Auto Body, Rose & Kiernan Insurance, Crystal Window and Door, Wings Over Water, Native Landscapes and Garden Center, The Shed Haus, Don Cappillino Law Firm, Horn & Thomes, Parrino’s, KMC Services, McGraths Real Estate, Westchester Modular, Journey of Hope Fellowship, Diana Tomasetti, The Tap House, Akin Library, and Pawling Corporation.  Candy Apple Sponsors include Phoenix Pottery, Margot Jacobs, M&T Bank, McKinney & Doyle, Good Tidings Gift Shop, Resolution RX, Meghan Ave. Salon, and The Pawling Shakespeare Club.

Proceeds from the Fabulous Fall Festival will be used to assist organizations in Pawling that support our youngsters, such as the Pawling Resource Center’s family outreach programs, The Smith Johnson Scout Cabin, Pawling Library’s children’s programming, The American Legion’s scholarship program, the Pawling Fire Department and its family education initiatives, Blue Path Service Dogs, Camp Herrlich, Pawling Youth Development, and Interact Club, among others.  Pawling Rotary also contributes to projects of the Rotary International Foundation, including its support of efforts toward worldwide eradication of polio, and Shelter Box, which provides temporary shelter for those affected by man-made or natural disasters.

The Festival, a rain or shine event, begins at 11:00 a.m. and will end at 3:00 p.m., so the community is encouraged to “come early and stay late,” according to event chair Susan Stone, who added that “one will be hard pressed to run out of fun things to do!”
