Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report

Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of Edward Hoag, 42 years old, of Poughkeepsie, NY.

Mr. Hoag was charged with the misdemeanor of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree.

On March 31st, 2015, investigation revealed that Mr. Hoag, who had both an Arrest Warrant and Bench Warrant outstanding for his arrest, was currently living in the City of Poughkeepsie. The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department was contacted. City of Poughkeepsie Police located Mr. Hoag and took him into custody. Mr. Hoag was then turned over to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. The Arrest Warrant for the Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree stemmed from an incident that took place in November of 2014.

Mr. Hoag was arraigned before Justice Babcock in the Town of Rochester Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 secured bond. He is to reappear in Rochester Court on April 1, 2015 at 6:00 PM.

Deputies were assisted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of Thomas P. Crowe, 63 years old, of Woodstock, NY.

Mr. Crowe was charged with the felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. Mr. Crowe was also charged with the misdemeanors of Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree. Mr. Crowe was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets for Unsafe Backing, Failure to Signal, Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Notify DMV of an Address Change, Unlicensed Operator and Controlled Substance Outside Original Container.

On March 28th, 2015 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Deputies stopped a vehicle operated by Mr. Crowe for unsafe backing and failure to signal on Glasco Turnpike in the Town of Woodstock. Through investigation it was determined that Mr. Crowe was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Mr. Crowe was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone).

Mr. Crowe was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Woodstock Court on April 1st, 2015 at 06:00 p.m.

Deputies of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of Michael J. Farrell, 22 years old of Accord, NY.

Farrell was charged with the felony of Criminal Mischief in the third degree, the misdemeanors of Unlawful Imprisonment in the second degree, Assault in the third degree and the violation of Harassment.

On March 28th, 2015, Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Rochester for a reported 911 hang up call. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a physical domestic dispute had occurred. During the initial incident, Farrell had physical contact with the first victim, then locked a bedroom door and stood in front of it, in an attempt to prevent the victim from leaving. The first victim managed to escape. Farrell was then confronted by another member of the household and a second physical altercation took place. During the second incident, Farrell caused physical injury to the second victim as well as damage to the residence.

Farrell was located by Deputies shortly after their arrival and was taken into custody without incident. Farrell was transported to the Wawarsing Substation for processing. Farrell was arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court, and released on his own recognizance to appear at a later date.

Deputies were assisted by members of the New York State Police and the Kerhonkson Accord First Aid Squad.

Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of Brandon S. Smith, 18 years old of Mt. Marion NY.
Mr. Smith was charged with the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.

On March 28th, 2015 at approximately 8:22 p.m. Deputies stopped a motor vehicle on State Route 375 in the Town of Woodstock for a equipment violation. Mr. Smith was identified as the front seat passenger in the vehicle. Deputies detected an odor of marihuana emanating from inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Smith was in possession of a quantity of marihuana and a glass smoking pipe.

Mr. Smith was processed in the field and issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Woodstock Justice Court on April 8th, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. The operator of the vehicle was issued the appropriate vehicle and traffic tickets also returnable to the Town of Woodstock Justice Court.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Town of Woodstock Police Department.
