Cortlandt man arrested after breaking into a residence and forcing himself on a victim

PRESS RELEASE
Cortlandt, New York – On September 23, 2018, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Andrew J. Ortner, age 34, of Cortlandt, for Burglary in the 2nddegree, a class C felony, Assault in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, Forcible Touching, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, and Resisting Arrest, all class A misdemeanor.

On September 23, 2018, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Troopers responded to Henning Drive in the town of Cortlandt for a burglary in progress.  Investigation found Ortner entered a dwelling illegally, and forced himself on a victim at the residence.  Ortner resisted briefly while being taken into custody, and during processing used his head to damage state property before being restrained by Troopers.

Ortner was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court, and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.  Ortner was next scheduled to appear before the Court on September 24, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.  Orders of protections were issued by the Court for all members of the burglarized residence.
