There’s still time to enter Stanford’s Push Cart Derby!

The Push Cart Derby at the 60th Annual Stanford’s Community Day on September 15 is an event you won’t want to miss. Why? Because this year’s derby is a true community event. Carts are being made by local individuals, groups and businesses and prize money will be awarded for the fastest, most aesthetic, humorous and the most recycled materials. A jury comprised of local artists and business owners will award the prize money that was donated by local community members.

Want to join the fun? Entry forms are still being accepted. Email transfourmer@gmail.com for details.

So, what is a pushcart derby? Well, according to Kara O’Neill, the official derby coordinator, “it’s a mighty competition, where creativity, humor, design or speed set you apart from the pack.” Built on the “Soapbox” model, this pushcart derby differs in propulsion. The carts must be human powered!
