North Castle, New York – On July 21, 2018, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Interstate 684 in the town of North Castle that occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m.

Initial investigation suggests Joseph Piscopo Jr., age 47, operating a 2001 GMC Denali, with one passenger Maria Piscopo, age 69, both of Brewster, NY, was traveling northbound on Interstate 684, and rear-ended a 2001 Dodge Dakota.  While attempting to pull off onto the shoulder of the highway, Piscopo’s Denali was then rear-ended by a 2012 Izuzu box truck operated by Saed K. Alkasaji, age 43, of Danbury CT.  All three were transported to Westchester Medical Center by ambulance, where Maria Piscopo was later pronounced deceased.

This investigation remains on-going.

The State Police were assisted on scene by the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Katonah Fire Department, Troop K Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Troop K Collision Reconstruction Unit, and the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office.
