Heat Advisory issued June 30 at 3:32AM EDT until July 01 at 12:00PM EDT by NWS Albany ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO NOON EDT SUNDAY... ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY TO 10 PM EDT MONDAY... * Location...Mohawk and Hudson Valleys of east central New York. * Heat Index Values...95 to 100 on this afternoon and 100 to 110 on Sunday and Monday. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s to near 100, with dewpoints in the mid 60s to mid 70s. * Timing...This afternoon through Monday mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours. * Impacts...The combination of heat and high humidity may cause heat stress or other heat related illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Heat Advisory and Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun... and keep track of your pets and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions...if you work or spend time outside. When possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work...the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
