Smythe Pledges To Refuse ALL Fossil Fuel Money In Campaign For State Senate

(Red Hook, NY) Senate Candidate Karen Smythe today signed the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge, set up by NoFossilFuel.org. The group and pledge have been designed to highlight candidates for office who have refused to accept campaign donations from coal, oil, and gas industries. Smythe noted that this pledge is part of her efforts to bring clean energy and green technology jobs to the Hudson Valley.

“I am proud to sign this pledge because I want my constituents to know that I will not be beholden to fossil fuel industries or lobbyists,” Karen Smythe said. “The new economy is going to be built on green technology and clean energy, and we need to invest in those sectors now so we can ensure a vibrant economy for generations to come. I will fight to bring these industries to the Hudson Valley so we can lead the way forward for our state, region, and nation.”

NoFossilFuel.org, supported by multiple clean energy and environmental protection groups, has been encouraging candidates for office to sign their pledge to refuse fossil fuel industry support. The pledge is open to candidates for federal, state, and local offices, and so far nearly 700 candidates have signed the pledge. These candidates come from both major parties, as well as independent and minor parties. To learn more about the pledge, please visit: http://nofossilfuelmoney.org/
