Obituary, Virginia (Kennedy) Brown Hooper

 

Rochester – Mrs. Virginia (Kennedy) Brown Hooper, born on March 28, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, New York, passed away at age 87 on May 17, 2018, in Rochester, New York. Virginia grew up in Millbrook, New York and graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a teaching degree. There she also met her husband, Charles L. Brown, Jr. She and Charles raised their family in Hyde Park and she taught at Hyde Park Elementary School from 1961 until retiring in 1982. She returned to school, getting a nursing degree in Florida and, later, she and Charles began an antique business in their Virginia home. After becoming widowed, Virginia married Lindsay L. Hooper, who survives her. She is also survived by her daughters, Katherine Lewis and Diane Borowiec, her son, Charles L. Brown III, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Friends and family members may attend the burial on Saturday, June 16 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 93 Union Avenue, New Windsor, New York, 12553. Donations to  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
