New Mexico Man Arrested for Illegally Possessing Two Handguns

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of a 64-year-old New Mexico man for resisting arrest and illegally possessing two handguns.

On May 21, 2018, at about 1:35 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Shane Rossiter arrested Pedro F. Ruiz-Rivas on Interstate 84 in the Town of Southeast for illegally possessing two firearms after his vehicle was pulled over for a traffic infraction.

Mr. Ruiz-Rivas had in his possession one (1) 9 mm semi-automatic pistol and one (1) 45 caliber semi-automatic pistols along with several boxes of ammunition and a pocket knife.

Mr. Ruiz-Rivas was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class “E” Felony, Resisting Arrest, Driving on the Shoulder, Obstructing Governmental Administration and other related charges.
