Traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway leads to gun arrest

PRESS RELEASE

Pleasant Valley, New York – On April 8, 2018, the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Austin G. Liddell, age 21, of Sugar Hill, GA, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4thdegree, a class A misdemeanor, and Possession of a Loaded Firearm in a Vehicle, an unclassified Environmental Law misdemeanor, and Jonathan A. Rozier, age 23, of Social Circle, GA, for unlawful Possession of Marihuana.

On April 8, 2018, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Troopers initiated a traffic stop of a 1981 Volkswagon Vanagon for violations of the vehicle and traffic law on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Pleasant Valley.  An investigation determined the operator, Rozier, possessed approximately 5.8 grams of marijuana.  Further investigation found Liddell to be in illegal possession of a CMMG 7.62×39 mm rifle, a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun, a Ranger .22 rifle, a Glock (model 20) 10 mm semi-automatic handgun, and a switchblade knife.

Rozier was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Pleasant Valley Court on April 10, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.  Liddell was arraigned before the town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.  Liddell is next scheduled to appear before the Court on April 19, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.
