Dorothy Katherine McHugh, a former resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away March 22, 2018, at her home in Las Vegas, NV; she was 95.
A resident of Las Vegas since 1991, she was born in Brooklyn on December 19, 1922, to Edward and Katherine (Messemer) Scheader.
While living in Poughkeepsie, Mrs. McHugh was a sales woman for Zimmer Brothers and did volunteer work at Vassar Brothers Hospital.
She is survived by her two sons, David McHugh and his wife Beverly of New Rochelle, NY and Michael McHugh of Mohegan Lake, NY; two granddaughters, Kimberly Kilcoyne and Kerrie Hayes; five great-grandchildren; her brother Edward Scheader, two nieces, Barbara & Susan Scheader, and nephew John Scheader of New Jersey; and her long-time companion, Leo Amoroso of Las Vegas..
She is predeceased by her husband, David P. McHugh, who passed away in 1976, her daughter, Claudia McHugh Hakimpour, who passed away in 2003, and her son, Kevin McHugh, who passed away in 2005.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018, at 10 AM at St. Peter’s Chapel, St. Peter’s Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial will follow.
