— Event Set for Tuesday, June 5 at Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls –

(POUGHKEEPSIE, NY) April 2, 2018 – Catholic Charities Community Services of Dutchess County will host its third annual Spirit of Service Awards Dinner on Tuesday, June 5, at Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls. The event will honor a trio of Dutchess County friends who exemplify CCCSDC’s goal of working toward a more just and caring Dutchess County by providing comprehensive, high-quality human services to its neighbors of all religions.

Joe Daily of iHeart Media Radio Q92, known to many as the “Morning Mayor of the Hudson Valley,” will once again emcee the event, which this year will pay tribute to Msgr. Joseph Martin, retired pastor from St. Mary’s in Fishkill, Ms. Honey-Jo Kelly, Executive Director of Birthright of Dutchess, and Sr. Roberta Smith, OFM representing the Sisters of the St. Francis of the Neumann Communities.

Msgr. Martin, former pastor of St. Mary’s Parish in Fishkill, will receive the Humanitarian Award, presented to an outstanding leader with a commitment to humanitarian causes who strives to improve the quality of life of individuals across all economic and social lines through dedication and compassion.

Ms. Honey-Jo Kelly, Executive Director of Birthright Dutchess County, will be bestowed the Light of Hope Award. This award honors a person for their service and commitment to meet the needs of the poor and vulnerable to its neighbors of all religions.

Sr. Roberta Smith OFM, Smith, representing the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities who faithfully served our community at the former St. Francis Hospital, will receive the Legacy Award to recognize their 100 years of service in the Hudson Valley. The Sisters of St. Francis, rooted in the Gospel, are sisters to all, serving with reverence, justice and compassion.

Early sponsors of the 2018 event include:   IBM, Rose & Kiernan, Marist College, Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Ms. Mary Westermann, the St. Martin de Porres Parish, Knights of Columbus/St. Martin De Porres Council and Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union.  Last year’s awards dinner hosted 225-plus guests, and raised more than $62,000 for the benefit of the organization’s services and programs.
