Obituary, Howard Henry Hinsch

 

PLEASANT VALLEY – Howard Henry Hinsch passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at home after a long battle with C.O.P.D. and dementia. He was surrounded by his family.

Howard was born on November 14, 1922, the son of Henry and Hattie (Heinsohn) Hinsch who were Immigrants from Germany. They immigrated before the start of W.W. I. They settled in Brooklyn, N.Y. where Henry started an ice cream and candy store. When Howard was 5 years old, the family moved upstate to Clinton Corners, NY. He attended Pine Plains High School. It was there that he met his future wife, June (Franuenberger).

After graduation, Howard started working at Western Publishing in Poughkeepsie, NY until 1943 when he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served for 3 ½ years. After his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant, he returned to Western Publishing to work as a lithographer and then later on as an assistant foreman in the press room. He retired in 1983 after 43 years with the company.

June and Howard were married on June 29, 1946. They were married for 71 years. Howard was predeceased by his mother and father and his brother, Kenneth Sr. (Mildred) of Pleasant Valley. Survivors include his wife, June of Pleasant Valley and his two sons, Eric Hinsch of Rehobeth, DE and Mark Hinsch (Christine) of Unadilla, N.Y., granddaughter, Marissa Hinsch of San Diego, CA, granddaughter, Lindsay Hinsch (Jeffrey) Drake and great-granddaughter, Nora of Bethlehem, PA and grandson, Michael Hinsch of Fort Worth, TX. Also surviving, Mildred (Kenneth Sr.) Hinsch of Pleasant Valley, nephew Kenneth, Jr (Cathy) Hinsch of Pleasant Valley and nieces, Cindy (Bob) Young and family, Dora (Pete) Hage and family of Pine Plains, NY.

Calling hours will be at 1605 Main St., Pleasant Valley, NY on April 20, 2018, from 3:00-6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Howard may be made to the Pleasant Valley Rescue Squad, Hudson Valley Hospice, Poughkeepsie, NY or Castle Point Veterans’ Hospital Wappingers Falls, NY.
