Obituary, Rebecca Knapp

Knapp, Rebecca of Wassaic It is with great sadness that the family of Rebecca “Becky” Knapp announces her passing on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at only 58 years old after a battle with liver cancer. Becky would have appreciated that the date of her death coincided with the beginning of spring, a season which brought her much joy given her love of flowers and gardening.

Becky loved spending her time in her beautiful gardens and enjoying books in the sunshine. She was active in both of her daughters’ lives and well known for her involvement at their school, Webutuck. She coached both softball and cheerleading and served as a member of the PTA for years. Her children remember her teaching them the value of hard work and following a strong moral compass. She will be remembered as a kind and gentle mother who encouraged all their dreams.

Becky was accomplished at horticulture and often helped others to achieve beauty in their outdoor environments. She had a heart like no other and will be greatly missed by many friends, and of course, by countless adopted pets she had taken in. Becky will forever be loved and missed by her husband of 28 years, Keith, and their daughters Heather and Alyssa. Also left to love and cherish memories of her are her brother Andrew Savage, sisters Jacqueline Smith, Angelia Greene, and her soon to be granddaughter Willow, as well as many other nieces, nephews and so many friends. Becky was predeceased by her brother Anthony Greene, as well as her mother Sharon Greene.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31 at 2 pm at the South Amenia Presbyterian church.

Aside from her family, flowers were Rebecca’s life, her favorite flower being the calla lily. For anyone interested in sending flowers, they can be sent directly to the church. The family would like to thank the staff at Sharon Hospital for their care and kindness.
