Obituary, Joseph P. Fasolino

 

Pleasant Valley – Joseph P. Fasolino, 80, of Pleasant Valley, NY died peacefully at home on February 19, 2018, with his family at his side following a long illness. Born August 23, 1937, to Joseph and Jane Fasolino, he was raised in Corona, Queens, where he met the love of his life, Blanca Matos. They were married on October 4,, 1958 at St. Leo’s Church in Corona; Blanca pre-deceased him in 2009.

Joe served his country in Korea with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a dedicated New York City Firefighter at Engine 58 Ladder 26.

After retiring from firefighting, his adventurous spirit led to founding many interesting business enterprises, including Space World arcade in the Apple Valley Shopping Center, SW Amusements vending company, and Il Comparé Restaurant in Wingdale.

Joe is survived by his four children: Joseph (Babette) Fasolino of Staatsburg; Michael (Linda) Fasolino of Clinton Corners; Denise O’Donoghue (Patrick) of Poughkeepsie and Patrick (Julie) Fasolino of LaGrange, as well loving grandchildren Alison, Joey, Chelsea, Nicole, Gabrielle, Patrick, Nicholas, Michaela and Brianna, and his faithful companion, Maggie. He had an incredible extended family of close friends whose company he eagerly celebrated with a good glass of wine.

Joe was passionate about family, friends, fishing and food; he had an amazing gift of working with his hands, whether in his kitchen, the garden or creating custom wood designs for friends and family.

Calling hours will be Thursday, February 22 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at  371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Joe’s memory to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
