SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATES HOME INVASION

Sheriff David P. Bartlett reports that at approximately 7:00 pm on February 6th 2018, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched by Columbia County 911 for a report of a possible home invasion that just occurred on Hall Hill Road in the Town of Ancram.

Upon arriving at the incident location, Sheriff’s Deputies who were assisted by members of the New York State Police, located three victims within the residence. The victims reported that while they were in the residence three male suspects entered the home brandishing weapons and assaulted two of the victims. The male subjects attempted to detain the third victim using duct tape. A fourth victim was able to escape the residence and went to a nearby neighbor’s home to contact police.

The victims did defend themselves and fought off the attackers. One of the victims, an adult male suffered non-life threatening lacerations to the face and was subsequently transported to Albany Medical Center by Community Rescue Squad where he was treated and later released.

The investigation to this point has revealed that the suspects arrived and left in a small SUV type vehicle with the driver of said vehicle being a fourth suspect that did not enter the residence. At this time investigators do not believe this to be a random crime. The investigation is continuing and investigators are attempting to identify and locate the suspects as well as the vehicle used in the crime.

Investigating for the Sheriff’s Office are Senior Investigator Kevin Skype, Investigator’s William Dunspaugh, Reagan Anderson, Patrick Logue, Kris Bauhoff, Sergeant’s Eli Fieser, Brian Molinski and Deputies Samantha Plass, Todd Hyson and Ryan Boehme.

Sheriff Bartlett urges anyone who may have information that could assist in this investigation to call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Branch at 518-828-4316 or The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (518) 828-3344.
