Kinderhook resident arrested for forcible sex act on a fifteen-year-old victim

Kinderhook, NY- On February 7, 2018, the New York State Police from the Kinderhook and Livingston barracks arrested Benjamin E. Champagne, age 17, of Kinderhook, for Criminal Sex Act in the 1st degree, a class B violent felony.

On February 6, 2018, Troopers received a complaint of a sexual offense in the Town of Kinderhook.  Investigators from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation then determined that Champagne had forcibly committed a sexual act on a fifteen-year-old victim.

Champagne was arraigned before Judge Dellehunt of the town of Kinderhook Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.  Champagne is scheduled to re-appear in court on February 12, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.
