North East Man Charged with Sexual Assault Against Child

Millerton – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Christopher McGhee, age 34 of the Town of Northeast, in connection with a recent sexual assault investigation.

On 1/20/18 Sheriff’s Office Detectives took Mr. McGhee into custody at his residence, and at this time he is accused of having sexual contact with a child. The victim and Mr. McGhee are known to each other, and no further information will be released in order to protect the victim’s privacy.

At this time Mr. McGhee has been charged with one count of predatory sexual assault against a child, which is a Class A Felony. After being processed he was arraigned before the Town of North East Court and was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.If anyone has information regarding this case or similar incidents involving Mr. McGhee they are urged to contact Detective Harris or Detective Capalbo at (845) 486-3820. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office and the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center, and more information may be released as it becomes available. As with any criminal case, the charge described above is merely an accusation, and Mr. McGhee is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
