Mahopac man arrested for drug possession and leaving an injury auto collision after caught speeding

Pleasant Valley, New York – On December 16, 2017 the New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Ceferino J. Garcia, age 37, of Mahopac, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Auto Accident, both Class A Misdemeanors.On December 15, 2017, the New York State Police investigated a Hit-and-Run motor vehicle collision in which the victim was injured after a rear-end collision.  Troopers only had a description of the vehicle and broken auto body pieces of the suspect vehicle.  The following day, a Trooper observed a vehicle matching the description speeding on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Pleasant Valley and initiated a traffic stop.  Further investigation revealed that Garcia was responsible for striking the victim’s vehicle.  Garcia was also found to illegally possess Controlled Substances during the traffic stop.

Garcia was issued with the Uniform Traffic Tickets and an Appearance Ticket returnable to Town of Pleasant Valley Court on January 2, 2018.
