Obituary, Mary Elinor (Noonan) “Molly” McLean

 

Mary Elinor (Noonan) “Molly” McLean died peacefully November 20, 2017 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, NY at the age of 94. Molly was born January 9, 1923 in Napanee, Ontario, Canada to William and Marion Noonan. She attended Queens University in Kingston, Ontario and married William E. McLean on May 18, 1946 after they had both served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. They moved with their family to Ridgewood, NJ in 1953.

A longtime resident of Quaker Hill, Pawling, NY, Molly was an active volunteer. She ran the blood drives in the area for many years and was also active in the Historical Society and the Pawling Resource Center. She was an early member of Christ Church on Quaker Hill and a devoted congregant.

Molly was predeceased by her husband Bill, her brother Daniel Noonan, and his wife Frances. She is survived by her children, Shelagh, Doug and Alison McLean, her son in law Arnold Yip, her daughter in law Poly Prime, and her granddaughter Dara Bloom, who she described as “the best Christmas present I ever had”.

The family is grateful for the care she received at Vassar Warner Home and Lutheran Care Center, both in Poughkeepsie, NY. A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Church on Quaker Hill, Pawling NY on January 20, 2018 at 11a.m.
