ELIZAVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER

 

PRESS RELEASE: ELIZAVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER.

On Saturday October 28, 2017 at approximately 11:15 pm the Red Hook Police Department responded to the Sidelines Bar and Grill for a report of an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the premises. Upon arrival to the location officers located the subject later identified as 46 year old Anthony M. Stoddard of Elizaville NY. Officer attempted to escort Stoddard to a vehicle at which time he became combative and physically fought with officers. During the altercation a Red Hook Police Officer sustained injuries taking the suspect into custody. The officer was treated at Northern Dutchess Hospital and released. Stoddard was subsequently charged with Assault of a Police Officer in the 2nd degree (Felony), resisting arrest (Misdemeanor) as well as disorderly conduct and trespassing both violations. He was arraigned in Town Court and released on his own recognizance with a future court date.
