Endorsement: John Thomes

Dear Friends,

I am very pleased to write this letter endorsing the candidacy of my fellow classmate and good friend, John M. Thomes.

John has served the people of our area in so many ways over the years that I can’t list them all, but, to name a few, he was a member of the Pawling Village Board, and later became the Mayor for 3 terms.  He served as President and Vice-President of the Pawling Fire Department, as well as serving on the rescue squad and fire police for many years.  He served as President of the Lions Club, Jaycees, and Chamber of Commerce, and was Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus for several terms, and is an active member of the American Legion, F & AM, Lions, Knights, and Rotary.  He also is a substitute driver for the Pawling Community Resource Center.

John served his country in the Army Reserve, and later the Air National Guard at Stewart IAP, serving during Desert Storm, receiving the Meritorious Service Award from the United States Air Force.  He retired in 1994, after 24 years.

There are many, many area activities that John has participated in and organizations he has helped.

John has served Dutchess County in the legislature for 4 terms, having an attendance of 98% of the meetings, and is currently the chairman of the Family and Human Services Committee.

Please consider my friend, John M. Thomes, for County Legislator District 23 on November 7th.
