State Police Liberty arrest man for Assault 2nd

The New York State Police announce the arrest of Carlos Torres, age 33, of Liberty, New York following an investigation conducted by the New York State Police in Liberty.

On September 21, 2017 at approximately 9:00 am Troopers responded to the report of a stabbing victim at Catskill Regional Medical Center, in Harris NY.

Troopers and BCI Members responded to the Emergency Room and interviewed Christine Torres, age 29, who stated that earlier today she was at her residence with her husband Carlos Torres when a verbal argument ensued. Carlos then picked up a large kitchen knife throwing it at Christine. The knife struck her in the left rear shoulder causing a deep laceration requiring multiple stitches.

Troopers and BCI responded to the residence at 153 Hysana Rd in the Town of Liberty, and located Carlos Torres.  Torres was placed under arrest and transported to SP Liberty where he was processed for Assault 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th without incident. Mr. Torres was arraigned before V/Monticello Justice Josephine Finn and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. An order of protection was issued to the victim.
