Mary R. Peitry entered Heaven’s gate on September 2, 2017 at NY Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. She was born on October 23, 1924 in Pawling, NY the daughter of Nicholas and Carmela Capalbo. She was predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Valle in 1950. Mary was married to Edward Peitry on July 4, 1953. He preceded her in death February 12, 2008. Mary lived all her married life in Harrison, NY where she was known and loved as a crossing guard on Harrison Avenue who always greeted the children with a smile and candy. She retired at age 75 in 1999 and was honored by the town for her years of dedicated service. She was an avid gardener and could make anything grow, from beautiful peonies to delicious tomatoes. Mary is survived by her children Carolyn (Art) Cancro, Mary (Michael) Forbes, and Eileen (Gary) Olivier, 6 loving grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mary will be held at 10am on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1377 East Main St., Shrub Oak, NY. Burial will be at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY. The family will greet friends from 3-8pm on Friday, September 8, 2017 at, 945 East Main Street, Yorktown, NY. Donations may be made in Mary’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
