State Police in Wappinger make burglary arrests

On July 20, 2017, the New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Rocco R. Cardascia, age 29, of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Casey C. Owen, age 27, of Mamaroneck, New York. Both subjects were charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, and Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, all Class D Felonies.

An investigation revealed that Cardascia and Owen were responsible for the burglary of a jewelry store in Wappinger, where over $9,000 worth of jewelry was stolen in October of 2016.

Cardascia and Owen were arraigned at the Town of Wappinger Court. Cardascia was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Owen was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond. Their next appearance was scheduled for August 3, 2017, at 5:30 PM.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Town of East Fishkill Police Department, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, and the Village of Fishkill Police Department.
